Export and back up your skills

Availability: All plans. Requires read access; use-only skills can't be exported.

Your skills are yours. Any skill you can read exports as a portable package you can back up, move, or use anywhere the open format is understood — which includes Claude itself.

Export a skill

  1. Open the skill (or find it in the library) and choose Export from the menu.
  2. A .skill package downloads — the complete skill: SKILL.md, every attached file, and a manifest.

Packages hold up to 50 MB and 100 files — the same limits as import, so anything you export round-trips back in cleanly.

An open format, on purpose

Exports follow the open SKILL.md / agentskills.io standard — the same format Claude Skills use. That's what makes the portability real in both directions: skills you built in Claude import cleanly, and skills you refine in Agentman work outside it. No proprietary wrapper, no lock-in.

What export is for

  • Backups — keep periodic exports of your critical skills wherever you keep other business records.
  • Moving between workspaces — export from one workspace, import into another; the deliberate way to cross a workspace boundary.
  • Sharing outside Agentman — hand a skill package to a partner the way you'd hand over a document.

The use-only exception

Export requires read access. A skill shared with you use-only can't be exported (or cloned) — its contents are precisely what the owner chose to protect, and that protection extends to every path out of the library.
