Common questions about connections

What is the difference between a plugin and an MCP server?

An MCP server, which this site calls a connector, is access to one tool your team already runs, so your AI can read from it and act in it. A plugin is a bundle of skills and connectors for one job: the skills carry the method and the connectors reach the tools. You add both the same way, over a single MCP connection.

What does "one URL turns everything on" mean?

You connect once, with a single MCP URL, and everything you have turned on becomes available to your AI. Each connector signs in to its own tool the first time; after that there is no config file to keep per tool.

Where do the plugins come from, and what does Agentman add?

Portability. Most of the plugins listed here are ported from Anthropic’s open-source plugins by Agentman, so the same plugin runs over an MCP connection in the assistants you already use rather than only in the app it was written for.

Which AI clients does this work with?

Any MCP-compatible client. In Agentman Studio it is one click; elsewhere it is the standard MCP connection your client already supports.

Does connecting a tool give the AI unrestricted access to it?

No. Your AI reaches only the connectors you turn on, and each connector acts with the permissions its own sign-in grants. Every connector page lists its tools and its limits, so you can see what it is able to do before you connect it.
