Limits

  • The directory's authless flag is wrong. Anthropic's snapshot records this connector as is_authless: true with an auth_posture of no_auth. Our anonymous initialize on 2026-09-08 returned HTTP 401 with the body "detail": "No Authorization Header". Sending a deliberately invalid bearer token changed the message to "Authorization Failed", so the server is running a real credential check rather than rejecting every request at the edge. The live observation outranks the metadata. Practically this changes little for a reader — the vendor requires no AccuWeather account, so the credential is issued during Claude's own connect flow — but it does mean you cannot reach this endpoint from a client that has not completed it.
  • No authentication metadata is published. The 401 carried no WWW-Authenticate header, and all four discovery documents we probed returned 404: both RFC 9728 oauth-protected-resource shapes, oauth-authorization-server, and server-card.json. A client therefore gets no machine-readable pointer to where it should authenticate.
  • Forecast horizons are fixed. Hourly forecasts run up to 12 hours and daily forecasts up to 10 days. AccuWeather states these ranges are identical for every Claude user.
  • Historical data covers 14 days. Temperature averages and records are available only for a date within the past 14 days, and today is excluded.
  • MinuteCast® coverage is incomplete. AccuWeather states it is not available for all locations, and that in an unsupported location the widget may render with an empty dial while it is raining.
  • Premium+ buys nothing here. Extended forecast hours and AccuWeather Alerts™ are not currently available through the connector, even to paying AccuWeather subscribers.
  • An admin gate applies on Team and Enterprise. An organization admin may need to enable the connector before employees can connect it individually.
  • We could not read the tool schemas. Parameters, per-tool descriptions and safety annotations are unavailable behind the authentication gate, so the tool table above is built from the directory's names cross-read against the vendor's capability list.
  • No published request quota. AccuWeather's connector documentation states no rate limit, and we did not call a tool, so we cannot report one. Absence of a documented quota is not evidence there is none.

Frequently asked questions

No. AccuWeather states you do not need an AccuWeather account or subscription, only a Claude account on the Free, Pro, Team or Enterprise plan and Claude for web, desktop or mobile. On Team and Enterprise plans an organization admin may first need to enable the connector from Organization settings before individuals can connect it.

Claude does not route every weather question to the connector. AccuWeather advises including the word AccuWeather in your request so the assistant knows to use it, and notes the assistant may answer from other available information when the request omits that word or asks for something the connector does not support. Check the capabilities list first.

Some capabilities return text only. AccuWeather documents Temperature Averages and Records as returning text results rather than an interactive widget, so no card appears for those requests. For everything else the vendor again advises naming AccuWeather in your message, which is what prompts the assistant to call the connector at all.

MinuteCast® does not cover every location. AccuWeather states that where your location is unsupported the assistant may still display a MinuteCast widget with an empty dial even during actual rainfall, and that the widget text should say MinuteCast is unavailable there. The dial being blank is a coverage gap, not a failed forecast.

No. AccuWeather states the connector provides the same forecast range and alert information to every Claude user regardless of any app or website subscription. Premium+ features such as extended forecast hours and AccuWeather Alerts™ are not currently available through the connector, and remain accessible only in the AccuWeather app or on AccuWeather.com.

Open Claude, go to Settings, then Customize, then Connectors. Select AccuWeather® in your list of connected apps, choose Disconnect on its details page, and confirm Disconnect in the pop-up. AccuWeather says you will know it worked when the message reads that you are not connected to AccuWeather yet, and the Connect button restores access.
