Limits

  • Beta. Pipedrive labels the connector BETA in its own setup instructions, so tools and behaviour may change.
  • Permissions are inherited, not granted. The connector reaches exactly what your Pipedrive role and visibility settings already allow — and no more, which is also the ceiling on what it can fix.
  • The OAuth grant is broader than the tool list, including a bare admin scope and products:full with no product tool present.
  • No delete tools are listed, so records can be created and amended through the connector but not removed.
  • Claude may not load every tool at the start of a conversation, per Pipedrive's own note.
  • We did not read tool schemas. The endpoint requires authentication, so names come from Anthropic's directory and behaviour from Pipedrive's documentation. We exercised no tool.

Frequently asked questions

No. Pipedrive states that Claude can only access data and perform actions your Pipedrive user account is authorized to access, and that permissions are inherited from your existing role and visibility settings. The connector does not widen your access; it acts within it. A restricted user stays restricted through the connector.

It is in beta. Pipedrive's own setup instructions have you name the custom connector Pipedrive MCP BETA, and its knowledge base article carries that label throughout. Treat tool behaviour and availability as subject to change, and check Pipedrive's article for the current state before depending on it in a workflow.

The server advertises seven OAuth scopes and one is a bare admin scope, alongside five full-access scopes for activities, contacts, deals, leads and products. That grant is broader than read access, so review it before approving. Pipedrive publishes the list at its own RFC 9728 metadata endpoint, so you can read exactly what is requested first.

Yes. Of the 32 tools Anthropic lists, twelve create or update: addDeal, addPerson, addOrganization, addActivity, addNote, addLead, convertLeadToDeal and the matching update tools. There are no delete tools in the listing. Pipedrive's own framing is that an assistant can update records and move opportunities through your pipeline.

Claude does not always load every tool when a conversation starts. Pipedrive documents this directly, noting that by default Claude may not load all available MCP tools and that you may need to enable them for the conversation. Check the connector is enabled and its tools are available before assuming a capability is missing.

Add it as a custom connector. Pipedrive documents opening Customize then Connectors in Claude, clicking the plus icon, choosing Add custom connector, naming it and entering https://mcp.pipedrive.ai/mcp. You then sign in to Pipedrive, review the requested permissions and click Allow and install to finish.
