Ratehub Mortgage Tools & Capabilities (4)

get_heloc_ratesRead-only

Use this to fetch HELOC (Home Equity Line of Credit) mortgage rates from Ratehub based on the information provided by the user. Use this when the user wants to take a line of credit against the equity in their home. Do not call this tool if it is not clear that the user is looking for mortgage rates (e.g. if they only say "rates" or "interest rates"). Do not provide your own default values for any inputs. If the user provides a value, use that. Otherwise, prompt the user for the value if it is required, or use the default value in the schema if it is optional. Do not prompt the user for an optional value. All monetary values should be in Canadian dollars, do not allow USD or any other currency. Location (city/province) is NOT required. If it is not provided by the user, default to Ontario instead of prompting the user for it. Do not include any URLs in the response messaging about the rates.

Limits

  • Ratehub's own disclaimer applies to this data. Ratehub states that the content on its site is "for information only; it is not meant to be relied on or used in lieu of advice from a professional". The connector returns that same rate data, so the same limit holds inside a conversation.
  • Ratehub is paid by lenders. Its rate pages disclose that financial institutions pay Ratehub for connecting them with customers, including for advertisements, clicks and applications. That commercial relationship sits behind the rates the connector returns.
  • Rates are not a quote and not an approval. The tools return published rates for the inputs you give. Nothing checks your income, credit or eligibility, and no lender has seen your request.
  • Rates change and the documentation states no update cadence. The OpenAPI specification describes the response but does not say how often the underlying rates refresh. Ratehub's public rate table stamps its own figures with an "As of" date and time instead. Treat any rate as current at the moment you asked, not as a fixed number.
  • Canada only. Thirteen province and territory codes, Canadian dollars enforced. There is no parameter for any other country.
  • No historical or forecast data. All four tools return current published rates. There is no tool for rate history, rate trends or projections.
  • Down payment floor of 5 percent. downPaymentPercent will not accept a value below 0.05, so scenarios under Canada's minimum cannot be modelled.
  • Errors are undifferentiated. The documented failure response is a single HTTP 500 returning plain text. There is no published error-code table to distinguish a bad input from an outage.

Frequently asked questions

No. Every tool is Canada-only. The province parameter accepts the thirteen Canadian province and territory codes and nothing else, and each tool description instructs that all monetary values be in Canadian dollars, rejecting USD and any other currency. A US or UK borrower will get no usable result from this connector.

No. The published OpenAPI specification defines no security schemes and no authentication headers on the endpoint, and our anonymous handshake on 2026-09-08 listed all four tools with no credentials supplied. The rate data Ratehub returns is the same published comparison data on its public website, so nothing is tied to an account.

No. All four tools are annotated read-only in the live schema, with destructiveHint set to false, and the API documentation defines exactly one write path: a JSON-RPC tools/call that fetches rates. Nothing in the surface submits an application, contacts a lender, or shares your details. It reads published rates and returns them.

Only the amount, in Canadian dollars. Purchase rates need a home price and a down payment percentage; refinance and renewal need a current mortgage balance; HELOC needs a credit limit. Location is optional and defaults to Ontario. No name, income, credit score or contact information is requested by any tool.
