Affinity Tools & Capabilities (31)
Tool names from Anthropic's directory listing. This server requires sign-in, so we could not read tool descriptions or parameter schemas.
Limits
- Plan-gated, and the gate is hard. Scale, Advanced or Enterprise only. Affinity's rate-limit table shows the Essentials tier with no API calls at all.
- Monthly call budgets are finite. Affinity publishes 100k calls per month on Scale and Advanced, and unlimited on Enterprise, with a per-user ceiling of 900 requests per minute. Both API versions draw on the same pool, and exceeding either returns HTTP 429.
- Three tools need features your org may not have.
get_meetingsrequires onboarding to Affinity's unified events feature.search_notesandsearch_filesrequire Deal Assist. Affinity notes these fail quietly — you may get no results rather than an obvious error. - Enriched company records are partly read-only. Affinity states that companies enriched from its own global dataset cannot have their name or domain changed; only manually created companies accept those edits.
- One documented deletion is irreversible. Removing a dropdown option strips it from every list entry that had it selected, and Affinity says this cannot be undone.
- Permissions are inherited, never expanded. Tool calls run as the authenticating user. If that user cannot read a list or create a note in the Affinity UI, the connector cannot either.
- The tool count is unverified against the server. The endpoint is gated, so we read no schemas and no safety annotations. The directory's 31 and Affinity's documented 52 disagree, and we could not break the tie live.
- Claude's tool restrictions do not cover every surface. Affinity notes they apply to Claude.ai, Claude Desktop and Claude Code on the web, but not to the Claude Code CLI, Desktop Extensions or the Claude API, which are controlled separately.
Frequently asked questions
Do you need a paid Affinity plan to use the MCP server?
Yes. Affinity documents MCP access as available on the Scale, Advanced and Enterprise plans, and its troubleshooting page names an ineligible plan as a common cause of an OAuth flow returning access denied. Plan tier also sets your monthly API call budget, which MCP tool calls draw from. Check your tier under Settings, Billing and Plans.
Can you connect Affinity to Claude in read-only mode?
Yes, in two independent places. Affinity's OAuth consent screen requests read and write access by default, and its documentation says unchecking the first scope grants read-only access instead. Separately, Claude Team and Enterprise workspace Owners can restrict individual tools, which Claude groups into read-only tools and write or delete tools.
Can the Affinity connector see my email and calendar?
Not directly, but it reads data derived from them. Affinity builds its relationship graph from a firm's email and calendar activity, and its API documentation describes the interaction score as measuring relationship strength from communication patterns such as emails and meetings. The connector exposes those scores, meeting records and transcript fragments rather than raw mailbox contents.
Why does get_meetings return an access error?
Your organisation has not been onboarded to Affinity's unified events feature, which the meetings API requires. Affinity's troubleshooting page directs you to contact your Affinity CSM to request access. Two other tools are gated the same way: note search and file search both require Deal Assist to be enabled on your organisation, and return no results without it.
Can an admin revoke the Affinity connector for everyone?
Yes. Affinity documents that any admin can view and disable OAuth access for each AI client under Settings, then Affinity MCP, and that those settings apply organisation-wide for all users. Enterprise plans can additionally scope the capability to specific roles. API keys are revoked separately under Settings, then Manage Apps.
Does Affinity see my prompts when I use the MCP server?
No. Affinity states plainly that it does not see your prompts, and that the MCP server receives only the structured tool calls your AI client decides to make rather than the natural language you typed. Your prompts and the assistant's replies are governed by your AI provider's own data-handling policies instead.
