AdisInsight
by AdisInsight
Query Springer Nature's drug-development pipeline and clinical-trial database from an AI agent. Anthropic lists 7 tools; Springer Nature's own page documents 4. OAuth with one identity-only scope, and a published Terms of Use that bans generative-AI use of the content.
Verified connector
Listed by Anthropic as a partner connector in its Connectors Directory.

Limits
- The published licence bans what the connector does. AdisInsight's Terms of Use, last updated 16 July 2025, prohibit using the Content in connection with generative AI systems. The connector launched 7 May 2026 and the page was not amended. The permission is in a non-public institutional licence, so ask your librarian for the terms that actually bind you before building on this.
- The two documents that would settle any of this are unpublished. Neither the AdisInsight institutional licence nor the ARC3 terms are on the web. Every licensing statement on this page is from the published fallback, which by its own first paragraph does not govern institutional users.
- Three tools are listed by Anthropic and documented by nobody.
search_drug_companies,search_trial_companiesandgenerate_chartappear on no Springer Nature property we could reach. They may be real and undocumented; we could not confirm they exist. - The vendor's own page advertises four tools and a dead route. It says "4 MCP Tools" against the directory's seven, and lists
/sseas an endpoint that returned 404 on 2026-08-23. Treat the page as behind the deployment. - The single OAuth scope is an identity claim.
scopes_supportedis exactlyopenidand the RFC 9728 descriptor declares none. Nothing at the grant separates one tool from another. On a read-only surface that costs less than it would elsewhere, but it means consent tells you nothing. - We could not read tool schemas or safety annotations. The endpoint returned 401 to an anonymous request, so no parameter-level detail or
readOnlyHintvalue is published here. Tool parameter counts quoted above are Springer Nature's claims, not our observation. - No cost, quota or rate limit is published for MCP. The sibling REST API documents HTTP 429 and a Premium upgrade path; nothing maps that onto this server, and no tool can check a balance.
- Your query volume is visible to your institution. Springer Nature processes searches, clicks and record views and may share the usage data with your employer to size the licence. An agent querying at machine pace is a procurement signal.
- Redistribution has no client-work carve-out in anything published. No insubstantial-amounts threshold, no internal-business-use clause. Also no survival clause, no liquidated damages and no audit right — absences, not permissions.
- Not for clinical use, and the vendor disclaims accuracy. Springer Nature labels the service research-use-only, bars entering health information, and warns responses "may be inaccurate or incomplete". Verify against the source record.
- Springer Nature's support centre says it offers no MCP access. An article modified 25 June 2026 states the company "does not offer MCP-based access to our content or platforms". It covers Springer Nature Link rather than AdisInsight, so it is a different product line — but it is the only MCP article in the support centre, and support staff searching it will find that answer.
- Anthropic's directory points at the wrong legal document. Its
privacy_policyfield isadisinsight.springer.com/terms-and-conditions, a page titled "Legal Information" whose body is the privacy policy and which contains no licence terms. The licence is at/terms-of-use, linked only from the site footer.
Frequently asked questions
Its published Terms of Use say no. The 16 July 2025 text bars using the Content in connection with generative artificial intelligence systems, including to develop, train, program, improve or enrich one. Springer Nature launched this Claude connector on 7 May 2026 and did not amend that page. The permission lives in a separate institutional licence you cannot read.
Anthropic's directory lists seven and Springer Nature's own page documents four. The vendor page states 4 MCP Tools and describes search_drugs, get_drug, search_trials and get_trial. Three directory names appear on no Springer Nature property: search_drug_companies, search_trial_companies and generate_chart. Neither list is confirmable against the server, which returns 401.
No published rate exists, and nothing in the surface can check. Springer Nature prices AdisInsight by quote-only subscription with no continuing access, and no tool name contains credit, balance, usage, quota or billing. The sibling REST API returns HTTP 429 above a plan limit, but Springer Nature publishes no numbers and never maps that limit onto MCP.
The published terms forbid it with no client-work carve-out. Section 1.3 bars redistributing, reproducing or transmitting the Content by any means including electronic, and separately bars using it for any commercial or monetary purposes. Permitted use is private, educational, personal, scientific or research. Consultancy deliverables built on agent output are not covered by anything published.
One, and it grants nothing. The authorization server advertised scopes_supported of exactly openid on 2026-08-23, an OpenID identity claim rather than an application permission, and the RFC 9728 resource descriptor declares no scopes at all. There is no way to grant searching drugs without also granting whatever else the token reaches.
Yes, and the privacy policy says why. Springer Nature processes your searches, clicks and record views plus your IP address, and states it may share that usage data with your employer or institution so they can judge the economic efficiency of the licence and whether to obtain more licences. The press release names usage tracking three times.
No. All seven directory names carry read verbs — four search, two get, one generate — and Anthropic's directory records the connector's permissions as Read only. AdisInsight is a curated reference database with no user-writable records, and Springer Nature's own page describes only retrieval. Nothing in the listing creates, updates or deletes.
Institutional subscribers to both Claude and AdisInsight. Springer Nature's 7 May 2026 press release scopes the integration to eligible institutional subscribers, and the published Terms of Use apply only to individual licences, directing institutional users to their librarian for the agreement that actually governs them. Individual AdisInsight subscribers are not named as eligible.
