Read donor records, gift history and fundraising events from Raiser's Edge NXT in Claude. Six tools, all read-only against a single product. Blackbaud's Marketplace listing grants the read-only rnxt.r scope and no write or delete scope.

Verified connector

Listed by Anthropic as a partner connector in its Connectors Directory.

Connection checked by Agentman on .

Anthropic states this reflects the level of review a connector received, not a security audit.

Tool names from Anthropic's directory listing. This server requires sign-in, so we could not read tool descriptions or parameter schemas.

Limits

  • One product only, on three independent confirmations — the Marketplace grant rnxt.r, the listing's compatible_solutions of the single value renxt, and Blackbaud's help centre calling it an integration "for all Raiser's Edge NXT customers". Financial Edge NXT (fnxt.r), Education Management (eduk.r), Blackbaud CRM (ecrm.r), Altru (altr.r) and eTapestry (etap) all exist as separate scopes in Blackbaud's own vocabulary and none is reachable here. A six-tool connector over a platform this large is heavily scoped down, and naming what is out of reach is as useful as naming what is in it.
  • Read-only, with a caveat in Blackbaud's own wording. The grant is rnxt.r. But Blackbaud's security page says Claude "can only retrieve or act on data that your Blackbaud user account is permitted to view" — phrasing that implies action where the scope permits none. We read that as boilerplate contradicted by the grant record, and we flag it because it is the one place the two Blackbaud sources sit awkwardly together.
  • No literal tool names from Blackbaud. Blackbaud documents six capabilities in prose and publishes no tool strings, so our set diff is semantic. A rename would be invisible to it.
  • We could not read tool schemas or safety annotations. The endpoint returned 401 to an anonymous request on 2026-08-23, so no parameter-level detail is published here.
  • Blackbaud does not document the MCP server on its developer site at all. developer.blackbaud.com is a SkyUX single-page app that returns the same ~11.7KB shell for every path, including its 404s, so it must be read from its JavaScript bundle. That bundle hardcodes 98 documentation routes and none of them is an MCP route; the whole 5.7MB bundle contains no mention of MCP, Claude or Anthropic. The connector is documented purely as an end-user help topic, entirely disjoint from the developer platform.
  • Blackbaud never publishes the endpoint either. No Blackbaud page we found contains the string mcp.sky.blackbaud.com. Its setup guide routes users around it, noting Claude auto-fills the server URL. The endpoint on this page comes from Anthropic's directory.
  • No published rate limit for the MCP server, as covered above. The SKY API figures we found govern developer subscriptions, not this gateway.
  • Wealth ratings are probably reachable and entirely undocumented. Ratings, lifetime-giving summaries and prospect status are constituent sub-resources inside the granted product, and neither vendor mentions them. We did not test, because testing would mean reading a real donor's record.
  • Coverage is stated to be expanding. Blackbaud's December 2025 launch announcement says it intends to extend the connector across its nonprofit, education and corporate solutions. Nothing here is a permanent boundary — re-check the product scoping rather than trusting this page's renxt finding indefinitely.
  • The nominated documentation URL is Anthropic's, not Blackbaud's. It also redirects: support.claude.com/en/articles/12923221-... 302s to academy.claude.com/tutorials/.... It is good first-party evidence about the connector, but it is not the vendor's own reference, and it describes every tool by semantic label rather than by name.
  • Two prerequisites are missing from Anthropic's setup article — the Blackbaud Marketplace app install and enabling AI features inside Blackbaud. Both appear on Anthropic's own connector page and in Blackbaud's help files. A reader following only the Academy tutorial will hit a failed OAuth login.
  • Blackbaud's compliance claim is broad. Its security page states the connector leaves organisations "fully compliant with GDPR, HIPAA, and other privacy regulations". Compliance is a property of how your organisation uses a tool, not of the tool. Treat that sentence as marketing and do your own assessment, particularly for healthcare-foundation records.

Frequently asked questions

Full constituent profiles and gift records. Blackbaud's help centre describes retrieving contact info and giving history for a named donor, and a gift's amount, date, donor and campaign. Its own example output includes affiliation and a giving summary. So donor names, contact details and complete giving history enter the agent's context on a single lookup.

No. Blackbaud's Marketplace listing grants this app the single scope rnxt.r, the read suffix in Blackbaud's own scope vocabulary. That vocabulary also defines rnxt.w for write and rnxt.d for delete, and 64 and 26 other Marketplace apps respectively hold those. Blackbaud for Claude holds neither, so no write path exists at the grant.

No. It drafts text into the Claude conversation. Blackbaud describes the capability as creating draft communications such as thank-you notes, and its scope grant carries no write or send permission. Nothing in the six tools transmits a message. A human copies the draft and sends it from their own mail client, which is where the outbound step happens.

Raiser's Edge NXT only. Blackbaud's Marketplace listing records compatible_solutions as the single value renxt, and its help centre names Raiser's Edge NXT throughout. Financial Edge NXT, Education Management, Blackbaud CRM, eTapestry and Altru are separate SKY API products with separate scopes, and none is reachable through this connector.

Probably, and neither vendor says. Blackbaud's Constituent API carries ratings and lifetime-giving summaries as sub-resources of the constituent record itself, not as a separate product, and this connector holds a read grant over that product. Blackbaud's help pages never mention ratings, so treat wealth capacity data as likely reachable rather than confirmed either way.

One unqualified scope. The server's RFC 9728 descriptor advertises scopes_supported of mcp:tools, which names no object and no verb, so it cannot exclude anything. The real boundary is elsewhere: the Marketplace grant of rnxt.r, plus each user's own Raiser's Edge NXT role permissions, which Blackbaud states are enforced on every call.

Three things, and two are easy to miss. You need an active Raiser's Edge NXT instance with a Blackbaud ID, a Claude Team or Enterprise plan, and a Marketplace admin to install the Blackbaud for Claude app. Anthropic's connector page adds a fourth: AI features must be enabled inside Blackbaud first.

Your Blackbaud role most likely lacks permission for it. Blackbaud's troubleshooting page states the connector only shows information your credentials are authorised to view, naming major gifts and restricted constituents as examples. The fix is a security-role change in Raiser's Edge NXT by an administrator, not a reconnection in Claude.
