Analytics6 tools

Run commercial credit origination, company reports and portfolio risk review from an AI agent. Anthropic lists 6 tools; D&B's quick start guide describes an insight-to-action surface those 6 names do not cover, and its authorization server advertises an mcp.write scope no tool name carries. OAuth 2.1 PKCE via Okta SSO.

Verified connector

Listed by Anthropic as a partner connector in its Connectors Directory.

D&B Finance Analytics Tools & Capabilities (6)

Tool names from Anthropic's directory listing. This server requires sign-in, so we could not read tool descriptions or parameter schemas.

Limits

  • The six-name listing is very unlikely to be the whole surface. The server advertises an mcp.write scope that no listed tool name could spend, and D&B's guide names three write operations — adding entities to portfolios, assigning alert profiles, importing companies and accounts — plus "and more", none of which maps to a listed name. A clean verb census over these six names is a false reassurance and should not be relied on.
  • D&B publishes no public tool enumeration. The guide's closing "for information on tools, please see documentation here" points behind the Finance Analytics product login, so there is no second list to diff against. This is the "no vendor enumeration" case, which is weaker than "no undisclosed tools were found".
  • manage_folder is a container verb. A manage_ prefix conventionally fronts create, rename, move and delete behind a single name. No client allowlist can distinguish those operations when they share one tool name, and we could not read the tool's schema to check.
  • Whether a report pull records a credit inquiry is unresolved. We found no D&B documentation either way. On a credit bureau this is the highest-consequence unknown on the page, because an inquiry can be recorded against a business you do not lend to.
  • No cost or rate limit is published for this server. D&B documents no per-call price, no quota and no rate-limit headers for the MCP endpoint, and no tool in the listing can report consumption.
  • We could not read tool schemas or safety annotations. The endpoint returned HTTP 401 to an anonymous request, so no parameter-level detail, no readOnlyHint and no destructiveHint is published here.
  • The vendor documentation is a slide deck behind a sales-enablement viewer. D&B's nominated docs URL is a Highspot viewer page that renders client-side; every text extractor returned between zero and ten words, and the llms.txt and llms-full.txt routes on that host both returned the same empty application shell. The seven-page guide was readable only as page images. It carries a "Commercial in Confidence" footer despite being the URL D&B supplied to Anthropic's public directory.
  • The guide contains a copy-paste error about its own product. Step 4 of the authentication section reads "Unlike the Finance Analytics MCP server which uses direct OAuth PKCE or Client Credentials, the Finance Analytics MCP server routes authentication through Okta" — contrasting the product with itself, apparently adapted from D&B's Risk Analytics guide. The step numbering also skips 5 and repeats 7. The technical content matches what the server actually returns.
  • Output is contractually restricted. D&B's terms of use forbid retransmitting or circulating Service information without written consent, and forbid building a comparison database furnished to a third party. An agent that republishes report content may breach those terms.
  • Not the same server as D&B Risk Analytics. That is a separate listing with a separate endpoint and a single natural-language dispatcher tool. Findings about one do not transfer.

Frequently asked questions

Anthropic's directory lists six. D&B publishes no tool list of its own — its quick start guide points at a separate tools document we could not reach, because the link resolves behind the Finance Analytics product login. So six is what the directory records, not a figure D&B has confirmed in public, and it should be read as a floor.

Almost certainly yes, and the evidence is the OAuth descriptor rather than the tool names. The authorization server advertised an mcp.write scope on 2026-08-23. No listed tool name carries a create, update, add or delete verb, so a scan of the six names alone would wrongly read this server as a pure read surface.

We could not establish this either way, and it is the question to resolve before connecting. D&B's product material describes commercial credit reports and decisioning but never says whether pulling a report through this server records an inquiry. Business credit inquiries can be visible to other subscribers, so treat it as unresolved.

No. D&B's terms of use state you agree not to reproduce, copy, retransmit, distribute, disseminate, sell, sub-license, publish, broadcast or circulate information received through the Service to anyone without express prior written consent, and separately forbid using it to prepare an original database or a comparison to other databases furnished to a third party.

Its public terms of use do not say so. We checked that document on 2026-08-23 and found no clause addressing AI or machine-learning training in either direction. The redistribution and derivative-database clauses are explicit and do constrain reuse, so the absence of a training clause is not permission — your own contract governs.

Through Okta single sign-on with your D&B corporate credentials. D&B documents OAuth 2.1 authorization code flow with PKCE, where the MCP server redirects you to Okta, then exchanges the Okta code server-side for a Finance Analytics token. You need an active Finance Analytics subscription with MCP access switched on.

D&B publishes no per-call rate for this server, and no listed tool reports a balance or quota. Nothing among the six names contains credit, usage, billing or entitlement, so an agent cannot check consumption before or after acting. Company reports are entitlement-consuming in D&B's other products, which makes the silence worth resolving.

No, they are two separate connectors with different endpoints, tool sets and directory entries. Risk Analytics covers KYB, sanctions screening and beneficial ownership at agents.riskanalytics.dnb.com. Finance Analytics covers credit origination and portfolio management at mcp.financeanalytics.dnb.com. Connecting one does not give you the other.
