Definely
by Definely
Resolve defined terms, validate cross-references and run structural contract checks from your AI assistant. 20 tools, none of which edit a document — the two write tools upload and prepare a file for analysis, and Definely says Word remains where documents are finalised and executed.
Verified connector
Listed by Anthropic as a partner connector in its Connectors Directory.
Connection checked by Agentman on .
Anthropic states this reflects the level of review a connector received, not a security audit.

Definely Tools & Capabilities (20)
Tool names from Anthropic's directory listing. This server requires sign-in, so we could not read tool descriptions or parameter schemas.
Limits
- No tool schemas were read. The endpoint returns 401 anonymously, so parameter types and safety annotations are unavailable. Tool names come from Anthropic's directory, not from a handshake.
- The tool list is unconfirmed by the vendor. Definely documents capabilities, never tool names. One documented identifier,
ask_definely_vault, appears nowhere in the directory's 20, and the documented "Ask From Document" capability has no obvious counterpart — so 20 is a floor. - No published position on model training. Nothing in Definely's privacy policy, terms of use, Trust Centre or connector documentation states whether customer documents are used to train models, or names a model subprocessor.
- Retention length is unstated. Definely says documents must be re-uploaded once the retention period expires but does not publish the period.
- Definely does not give legal advice, and says so: it identifies drafting issues and states that professional judgement remains essential. Neither does this page.
- Session-scoped analysis. Definely analyses documents uploaded in the current session and warns users to confirm they have the right version before uploading. Large documents take longer.
- Vault results depend on your own library. Precedent search returns only what your firm has stored, and requires a Vault entitlement.
- Region handling is manual. The directory endpoint is UK-configured; US firms need a custom connector, and other regions must contact Definely.
- No read-only grant. The three application scopes name product surfaces rather than verbs.
Frequently asked questions
Can the Definely connector edit a contract I am negotiating?
No. None of the 20 listed tools carries an edit, redline, insert or delete verb, and Definely states the connector does not replace its Word add-in, with Word remaining where documents are reviewed, finalised and executed. The two write-shaped tools upload a file and prepare it for analysis. Revised drafting comes from the assistant's own text, not from a Definely tool.
What can the Definely MCP server actually see?
Only what your own Definely account can see. Definely states the server accesses data the authenticated user has permission to view, that Vault project queries are scoped to projects the user can access, and that knowledge-source queries are limited to documents the user uploaded in that Claude session. Each user authenticates individually and the server resolves every request to that user.
Does Definely train AI models on the contracts I upload?
Definely publishes no answer to this. We checked its privacy policy, terms of use, Trust Centre and the connector help article on 2026-08-21 and found no statement either way about customer documents being used for model training, and no named model subprocessor. Ask Definely directly and get the answer in your contract rather than inferring it from marketing pages.
Why do Definely document uploads fail in Claude?
Your Claude network policy is probably blocking the upload host. Definely says uploads pass the file to its storage layer, and a blocked host produces a host_not_allowed error for s3.amazonaws.com or documents that never process. A Claude Owner allowlists that domain under code-execution network egress, then you must retry in a brand-new conversation because policy is fixed at session start.
Do you need a paid Definely licence to use the MCP server?
Yes. Definely lists an active licence for the full cloud suite and valid account credentials as requirements. Individual tools are gated further: the help article says a Vault-licensed account is needed for vault querying, and an unlicensed user sees a message that the hosted MCP server is unavailable. Your Definely workspace administrator controls both the licence and per-tool permissions.
Which Definely MCP endpoint should a US firm use?
A separate US endpoint at mcp.us.definely.com, added as a custom connector by an administrator. Definely says the directory listing is configured for the UK region by default, and that region-matched storage is a future change rather than current behaviour. Both endpoints answered our probe with identical OAuth metadata. Firms outside the UK and US must ask Definely for the right URL.
Can I grant read-only access to the Definely connector?
No. The server's protected-resource descriptor advertises seven scopes, of which three are application scopes named for surfaces rather than for verbs — none separates reading a contract from uploading one. The remaining four are generic identity and session claims. Any narrowing has to come from your Definely licence entitlements or your client's per-call approval prompt.
