Data & Research2 tools

Generate differentiated K-12 reading materials from your AI assistant. Two tools run an async job that lands a link, not a file. Diffit says it collects no student data and calls its own reading-level system imperfect.

Verified connector

Listed by Anthropic as a partner connector in its Connectors Directory.

Connection checked by Agentman on .

Anthropic states this reflects the level of review a connector received, not a security audit.

Limits

  • Diffit calls its own reading-level system "not perfect yet". Its help centre describes the level as an approximation via Flesch-Kincaid plus a proprietary system, accurate "the majority of the time" in its own testing. That is the vendor's qualifier on the product's core attribute, carried here unsoftened.
  • The terms disclaim accuracy entirely. Diffit does not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of any information on the services, is not responsible for errors, omissions or results obtained, and provides the services "as is" with no warranty of any kind.
  • Diffit publishes no teacher-review guidance. We found no documented recommendation to check generated material before classroom use, and no statement about human review. The editor exists and the levels are approximate; Diffit does not join those two facts into stated guidance.
  • Citations are opt-in. Sources appear when the prompt asks for them. An agent will not add that phrasing on its own.
  • Cost is undocumented for the connector. No published per-generation price, quota or rate limit, and nothing stating whether connector use is metered separately from the web app.
  • The tool surface is unverified live. The endpoint requires authentication, so the count of two, both tool names, and the absence of prompts all come from Anthropic's 2026-08-16 snapshot. No schemas or safety annotations were readable. Treat both tools as unannotated.
  • The RFC 9728 descriptor is advertised but absent. The 401 challenge names a resource_metadata URL that 404s, as do the other two path forms. Discovery works only via RFC 8414.
  • One coarse scope. diffit is the only scope advertised; nothing in the token separates generating a resource from reading a status.
  • Guest access is a real posture change. The connector can be authorized without an account, which lowers the barrier and also means the resources an agent creates may sit in a session rather than a durable identity until sign-in.
  • Generated material never enters the conversation. The assistant gets progress and a link. An agent cannot read back, quote or check what it produced.
  • Commercial use is prohibited, and access is revocable. The terms bar commercial use of educational content and reserve Diffit's right, at its sole discretion, to remove or disable access to content it judges outside classroom use or fair use.
  • Compliance claims are unaudited. FERPA, COPPA, the privacy-agreement signatures and the Common Sense Media rating are Diffit's published claims, reproduced here as claims.

Frequently asked questions

Can the Diffit MCP server reach student data?

No student data is reachable, because Diffit states it holds none. Its privacy page says it does not collect any student data, and that it collects teacher names, email addresses and IP addresses only to run the service. The two connector tools generate teaching materials from a topic or a text you supply. Neither reads a roster or a gradebook.

Is Diffit FERPA and COPPA compliant?

Diffit states that it is both. Its privacy and pricing pages claim FERPA and COPPA compliance, signatory status on the National Data Privacy Agreement and the Student Data Privacy Consortium agreements, a Common Sense Media pass rating, and annual third-party penetration testing. Those are Diffit's own published claims. We reproduce them as claims and did not independently audit any of them.

How accurate are the reading levels Diffit generates?

Diffit does not claim they are exact. Its help centre says it uses a mix of Flesch-Kincaid and a proprietary system to approximate the level for a typical on-grade student, and states plainly that the system is not perfect yet, getting close most of the time in its testing. Its terms separately disclaim any guarantee of accuracy or completeness.

Where does a resource generated through the Diffit MCP server end up?

In your Diffit library, reachable through a link the assistant returns. Diffit's documentation says everything after creation happens in Diffit at the link Claude gives you. The conversation shows generation progress rather than the finished document. Editing, changing the reading level, translating and exporting all happen on that page, not through the connector.

Do I need a Diffit account to use the Diffit MCP server?

Not to start. Diffit documents a guest option at the authorization step, letting you try the connector without an account. Its documentation adds that after a period of use you are asked to sign in or create a free account to continue, and that resources made before that point remain available to you. Claude for K-12 users are connected automatically.

Does the Diffit MCP server cost money to run?

Diffit publishes no per-generation price or quota. It documents a free Basic tier and a paid Diffit for Schools tier sold as a flat annual site licence tiered on enrollment. Neither page states a generation limit, and no documentation we found says whether connector use is metered separately from the web app. Treat unattended looping as an undocumented cost.

What source material can the Diffit MCP server ingest?

Diffit's product accepts pasted text, an uploaded PDF, a URL or a video transcript, or a bare topic or standard. Its help centre puts PDF uploads at 200,000 characters on premium and 40,000 on basic. Which of those paths the two connector tools expose is not documented, and the gated endpoint blocked our own check.

How many tools does the Diffit MCP server have?

Anthropic's 2026-08-16 directory snapshot lists two, create_resource and get_resource_status, and Diffit's own documentation names no tools at all to contradict it. The pairing matches the asynchronous workflow the documentation describes: one call starts a generation, the other reports progress. We could not confirm the count live, because the endpoint requires authentication.
