Gainsight (Customer Communities)
Search, analyse and audit a Gainsight Customer Community from an AI agent. All 13 tools read; Gainsight states plainly that you cannot modify community data through the connector. OAuth with three scopes that map onto the tool prefixes.
Verified connector
Listed by Anthropic as a partner connector in its Connectors Directory.
Connection checked by Agentman on .
Anthropic states this reflects the level of review a connector received, not a security audit.

Gainsight (Customer Communities) Tools & Capabilities (13)
Tool names from Anthropic's directory listing. This server requires sign-in, so we could not read tool descriptions or parameter schemas.
Limits
- It is still beta, and the vendor has not said when that ends. Gainsight announced the connector in beta on 2026-05-27; the setup article carries BETA in its title and URL. A customer asked on 2026-07-23 when it leaves beta and the question went unanswered in the thread.
- Gainsight publishes no snake_case tool list. The 13 names come from Anthropic's directory. Gainsight's enumeration is by human-readable label, so the two agree semantically but share no literal strings — and a rename would not show up in that comparison.
- We could not read tool schemas or safety annotations. The endpoint returned 401 to an anonymous request, so no parameter-level detail,
readOnlyHintordestructiveHintis published here. - There is no MCP-specific permission tier. Analytics and admin tools require an Admin or Community Manager role on the platform itself. Customers have raised this twice as a blocker — one on 2026-06-02 wanting CSMs to see engagement trends without full admin rights, another on 2026-07-30 unwilling to make hundreds of people admins so they could view an MCP-built dashboard. A Gainsight product manager replied on 2026-08-04 that dedicated MCP permissions are being scoped "in the next 1-2 months max". Until that ships, granting MCP analytics access means granting community admin access — a larger privilege than the connector needs.
- Search returns excerpts, not conversations. No tool retrieves a topic's full reply list. Two open feature requests ask for it, and a Gainsight engineer confirmed on 2026-06-09 that it does not exist today.
- User lookup is exact-match only. A customer reported on 2026-06-05 that the connector matches full email, username, user ID and SSO identifier, but not email domain, company name or partial strings — so "show all posts from employees of ACME" is not answerable.
- One community per connection. Gainsight documents this explicitly.
- Enabling the toggle is not instant. Gainsight warns that turning Community MCP on or off "may take some time to take effect".
- Accuracy depends on your data. Gainsight notes the assistant retrieves data matching the KPIs visible in your dashboards, and that results depend on "the quality and completeness of the data in your community". Verify a number before reporting it upward.
- A first connection from a client outside Gainsight's allowlist will fail. Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot Studio and Gemini are pre-approved; anything else needs Gainsight to add its redirect URI.
- The documentation is a forum post, and much of the detail is in its replies. The setup article is a topic in Gainsight's own community with 25 replies. Several load-bearing facts on this page — the excerpt-only search result shape, the redirect-URI allowlist, the unanswered beta question — appear only in those replies, which are paginated and not present in the article body.
- Gainsight's own marketing contradicts its documentation. The Customer Communities product page describes the connector as letting you "Query data, surface insights, and manage your community in your AI workflow". Nothing in the tool list, the scopes or the setup documentation supports *manage*. Treat the marketing copy as loose and the read-only statement as the accurate one — but expect the discrepancy to cause confusion internally when someone quotes the website.
- No rate limits are published. We found no documented request ceiling, quota or 429 behaviour for this server. Treat that as unmeasured rather than as absent.
Frequently asked questions
No. None of the 13 tools writes anything, and Gainsight states the limit directly: admin tools are read-only and you cannot modify community data through the MCP connector. Every tool name begins with admin_, analytics_ or search_, and no name carries a create, post, reply, update or delete verb. Posting points and badges is an open feature request, not a feature.
Five, and three of them are real boundaries. The server's RFC 9728 descriptor advertised mcp:search, mcp:analytics, mcp:admin, openid and email on 2026-08-23. The three mcp: scopes map one-to-one onto the three tool-name prefixes, so a scope grant genuinely narrows which tools appear. No scope names a write verb.
Yes, to admins and community managers. User Overview looks up members by email address, username, user ID or SSO identifier and returns their role assignments, and an individual user profile tool returns activity detail. A customer testing the connector confirmed lookups need an exact full email address; domain and partial matching are not supported.
Yes, by construction. Search returns titles, excerpts and metadata from posts written by members of the public, and Gainsight's vendor-suggested prompts ask the model to run sentiment analysis and classify that text. Anyone who can post in your community can put text in front of your agent. Treat retrieved community content as data, never as instructions.
No, only topic-level results. A Gainsight engineer stated on 2026-06-09 that replies are individually indexed and can be matched, but results come back as title, excerpt, metadata and reply count. There is no tool to retrieve the full reply list for a topic. Two customer feature requests ask for exactly that.
Because inSided is Gainsight's own community platform. Gainsight announced its acquisition of inSided on 10 January 2022, and insided.com now redirects through a gainsight.com host to the Customer Communities product page. The domain still runs live first-party infrastructure, including the Community API documentation and this MCP endpoint. It is a Gainsight domain, not a third party.
Your role decides your tools. Gainsight documents that admins and community managers get all search, analytics and admin tools; moderators get search and admin tools but not analytics; and registered users and super-users get search tools only. The server issues scopes to match, so the connector shows a different tool list per person.
No. Gainsight announced it in beta on 2026-05-27 alongside its Skilljar and PX connectors, and the setup article still carries BETA in its title and URL. A customer asked on 2026-07-23 when it leaves beta and no Gainsight employee answered in the thread. Anthropic nonetheless lists it as a partner connector.
