Does creating a SurveyMonkey collector make my survey public straight away?
Yes. SurveyMonkey's API documentation shows a newly created collector returning status open with a live survey URL, so there is no draft stage to review first. Its help centre is blunter still: a web link is a public link, anyone holding it can complete the survey, and search engines can find and list it.
What SurveyMonkey plan do I need for the MCP server?
Any plan, including the free Basic tier. The connector requests only the weblink collector, and SurveyMonkey documents weblink collectors as the one collector type exempt from the paid-plan requirement that covers email, SMS and popup collectors. Reading full answer text is where Basic accounts hit a wall, not survey building.
Can Claude read my survey respondents' answers and IP addresses?
Yes, if your collector records them. SurveyMonkey's bulk response schema returns free-text answers, IP address, custom variables, response timing and file-upload download links. Anonymity is a per-collector setting that defaults to off, and the connector cannot change it — you set it in SurveyMonkey before collecting.
What happens if the agent edits a survey that already has responses?
Edits go live immediately on the same link, and some of them destroy data. SurveyMonkey states that deleting a question also deletes that question's responses from your results. Answer choices with responses cannot be deleted at all. Respondents mid-survey have their page refreshed and their answers discarded.
Why can't I connect the SurveyMonkey MCP server to my account?
Three published restrictions cause this. SurveyMonkey limits the connector to accounts whose data is stored in the United States, disables it by default on HIPAA and Enhanced Sensitive Data Protection enterprise accounts, and accepts only clients with approved redirect URIs — Claude, ChatGPT and local clients at the time of writing.
How do I disconnect the SurveyMonkey MCP server?
Open My Account, go to Linked Accounts, find SurveyMonkey MCP Server and select Unlink. Revoking there kills the token regardless of what your AI client still shows. Team and Enterprise administrators who want the connector disabled across an entire team have to contact SurveyMonkey support instead.
Are the responses I read through the connector limited on a free account?
Yes, to 25 responses per survey. SurveyMonkey caps Basic accounts at 25 responses per survey for the responses_read_detail scope and returns error 1005 with HTTP 402 beyond that. Paid plans have unlimited access. An agent hitting the cap sees a payment error, not an empty or truncated result set.
