Limits
- Lithuania and the EU only. Vasara states plainly that it does not cover other jurisdictions. This is a legal research tool for one legal system, not a general one.
- Case law coverage has a floor date. Supreme, Supreme Administrative and Constitutional Court decisions run from 2010; appellate, regional and district courts cover the last 10 years. An older lower-court decision is not in the corpus, and no tool will say so.
- Vasara publishes no tool list. The 21 names come from Anthropic's directory. We searched both connector pages, all four product pages, the sitemap, the JavaScript bundles, GitHub, npm, PyPI and four MCP aggregators; none carries an enumeration, and no aggregator has even indexed the server. There is no second list to diff against, in either direction.
- We could not read tool schemas or safety annotations. The endpoint returned 401 to an anonymous request, so no parameter-level detail appears on this page. Every read/write judgement here is ours, from the names.
- One scope covers everything.
mcp:toolsnames no object and no verb, so consent cannot distinguish reading public case law from reading your uploaded documents or calculating a grid. - Roughly half the surface is plan-gated. EU and international law, ECtHR judgments, regulator guidance, municipal acts, Projects and Insight Grids all require Pro at €39 per user per month or above. On Start and Basic those tools have nothing to return, and the failure will look like an empty result rather than a permission error.
- Connector calls are metered with no meter you can read. 50 per month free, 300 on Basic, and no tool that reports the balance. Usage statistics exist only on Max, where the cap does not.
- EU-only processing is contradicted by Vasara's own privacy policy. Product pages state data is processed exclusively in the EU and never transferred to third countries. The privacy policy, updated 2026-01-23, states transfer and storage outside the EU and EEA may sometimes be necessary and asks users to consent to it. The policy is the binding document; the marketing claim is not.
- No LLM subprocessors are named. Vasara's terms state it uses its own and/or third parties' large language models. It commits publicly to no training or fine-tuning on user data and says it requires the same of its suppliers, but does not publish who they are. Under a connector that can read a due-diligence document set, that gap is worth raising in procurement.
- Vasara declines to guarantee correctness, in its own words. Its marketing says it does not promise correct answers, only verifiable ones; its terms say results may be inaccurate, incomplete or wrong, that it does not interpret legislation, and that users should always check the cited sources. Its FAQ assigns responsibility for a conclusion to whoever presents it.
- Liability is capped at 12 months of fees. Vasara's terms limit liability to what you paid in the preceding 12 months and exclude indirect loss, lost profit, data loss and reputational harm. The availability target is 99% per paid 12-month period, remedied only by extended service time.
- One licence is one named person. Vasara's terms prohibit credential sharing and reserve the right to restrict or revoke access where one licence is used by several people — relevant if you intend to wire the connector into a shared agent.
- Whether
calculate-insight-gridmutates or spends is unresolved. Vasara documents neither. We did not call it, and we recommend you do not auto-approve it.
Frequently asked questions
It gives an AI agent searchable access to Lithuanian and EU primary legal sources. Vasara is a Lithuanian legal research product from Sunny Ventures UAB in Vilnius. The connector covers legislation from the Lithuanian TAR register, EU regulations and directives, Lithuanian court decisions up to the Constitutional Court, CJEU and ECtHR judgments, and published regulator guidance.
Vasara says so, and one tool name sits awkwardly with that claim. Vasara's connector page states it exposes only read-only tools and data the user already has. But the directory lists calculate-insight-grid, and a calculation that populates a document-review table is computation, not retrieval. We could not read the tool schemas, so treat read-only as the vendor's claim rather than a verified property.
Fifty on the free Start plan and 300 on Basic. Vasara's pricing table meters connector requests through Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot as a distinct monthly allowance. Pro at 39 euros and Max at 79 euros per user are unlimited subject to a fair-use policy. Every tool call spends from that allowance, and no tool reports the balance.
No. None of the 21 tool names contains credit, balance, usage, quota or billing, so nothing in the connector surface can read the meter it spends. Vasara's usage statistics and audit logs are a Max-plan web-app feature, and Max is the tier whose connector allowance is already unlimited. The capped plans have no visibility at all.
One functional scope that bounds nothing. Vasara's RFC 9728 descriptor advertised a single scopes_supported value, mcp:tools, on 2026-08-23. Its authorization server adds only openid, profile, email and offline_access, which are identity claims and refresh-token lifetime. No scope names a legal source, a project or a grid, so consent cannot separate searching from calculating.
Yes, with a reduced surface. Vasara's own FAQ states the connector needs a Claude or ChatGPT account plus any Vasara plan, including free Start. But EU and international law, including ECtHR judgments, is a Pro feature, and Projects and Insight Grids are Pro-only too, so roughly half the listed tools cannot return anything on Start.
In the EU according to its marketing, with a caveat in its privacy policy. Vasara's connector page says requests are processed within the EU and its product pages say data is never transferred to third countries. The privacy policy updated 2026-01-23 adds that transfer and storage outside the EU and EEA may sometimes be necessary. The binding document is the policy.
No, and Vasara states this repeatedly. Its terms say Vasara is not intended to replace a professional lawyer, performs no comprehensive legal analysis and gives no legal advice. Its own marketing declines to promise correct answers, promising verifiable sources instead. Its FAQ places responsibility for any conclusion on whoever makes and presents it.
