Developer Tools28 tools

Build pages, manage CMS content and publish Webflow sites from your AI assistant. 28 dispatcher tools carrying about 200 named actions, OAuth sign-in, and a publish_site action that pushes changes to the live internet.

Verified connector

Listed by Anthropic as a partner connector in its Connectors Directory.

Connection checked by Agentman on .

Anthropic states this reflects the level of review a connector received, not a security audit.

Limits

  • No Webflow Interactions. The server cannot create or apply Interactions (IX3). Build and edit those manually in the Designer.
  • Custom fonts only. The server manages uploaded font files. Remotely hosted Google and Adobe Fonts are managed in site settings.
  • No new localized CMS items. It can read and update existing items and static content in secondary locales, but not create localized items.
  • Cannot change access settings. The server cannot add users or assign roles. It works inside your existing permissions.
  • One workspace per authorization. Switching workspaces means removing and reinstalling the connector.
  • Some capabilities need the Designer open with the Bridge App connected: element snapshots, and reading or changing the current selection, page, mode, branch, canvas and breakpoints.
  • Enterprise gate. data_enterprise_tool requires an Enterprise workspace plan or higher and errors on lower plans. Webflow does not otherwise gate the MCP server behind a plan tier in its documentation.
  • Analytics add-on gate. data_analyze_tool requires the paid Webflow Analyze add-on and returns an error on sites without it.
  • Rate limit on compression. compress_assets is documented as limited to 10 calls per minute per site. Webflow's MCP documentation states no other connector-specific rate limit.
  • No scope granularity. Neither the resource descriptor nor the authorization server document publishes scopes_supported. There is no permission you can decline at the consent screen; the only granularity is which sites you select and what your Webflow role already allows.
  • Tool-level access only. Webflow states that granting a tool grants all of its actions. You cannot grant CMS reads without CMS deletes.
  • The tool set is extensible at runtime. get_more_tools lets the server hand the agent capabilities that were not loaded at connect time, so the list your client shows is a starting point rather than a boundary.

Frequently asked questions

The sites I want to authorize are greyed out

Only site owners and admins can authorize the Webflow MCP server and the MCP Bridge App. Webflow's MCP troubleshooting page states that a user who is not a site owner or admin will not be able to authorize those sites, and advises requesting owner or admin access, or asking a site owner to authorize the server instead.

How do I switch workspaces?

Re-authenticate. Webflow's MCP documentation records that each authorization grants access to a single workspace. For connector-based clients such as Claude and ChatGPT, that means removing the Webflow connector and reinstalling it, then choosing the workspace you want on the authentication screen. Other clients need the server removed from configuration and added again.

Does Webflow need to be open to use the MCP server?

Most of the time, no. Webflow's documentation states that creating and editing elements, components, styles and variables, and managing CMS content, pages and assets all work headlessly. Only a live Designer session with the MCP Bridge App connected supports element snapshots, reading or changing the current selection, page, mode and branch, and canvas navigation.

Can I use all available API endpoints with the MCP server?

No. Webflow's MCP FAQ states plainly that the server supports a focused set of Data and Designer API tools, and that not all Webflow API endpoints are available through it. Webflow directs users who need a missing capability to open an issue on the server's public GitHub repository with their use case.

Why am I getting a ModeForbidden error?

The agent called a tool the current Webflow Designer mode does not allow. Webflow's documentation records that the server reports the active mode in tool responses, and that tool descriptions list the modes each tool can run in. The fix is to switch to the required mode and ask the agent to retry the action.

Can I localize content with the MCP server?

Only partly. Webflow documents support for reading and updating static page and component content, default component properties, and existing CMS items in secondary locales. Creating new localized CMS items is explicitly unsupported. Webflow asks users needing more localization coverage to open an issue on GitHub.
