Anthropic's directory lists two tools, and only one of them belongs to the product: a natural-language cottage search. Nothing in the listing makes, holds, changes or cancels a booking, and nothing contacts a property owner.

Tool names from Anthropic's directory listing. This server requires sign-in, so we could not read tool descriptions or parameter schemas.
Limits
- It cannot book, hold, amend or cancel anything. No reservation tool exists in the listing. This is a discovery connector that ends at a link, and Alpic's case study describes the booking as happening on cottages.com.
- We never read a live tool schema. The endpoint returned 403 to our anonymous request, so
search-cottages's parameters, its safety annotations and any injected analytics parameter are all unpublished here. The tool names come from Anthropic's directory. - The vendor publishes no tool list. Awaze and cottages.com document this connector nowhere, so the directory's two names cannot be diffed against a first-party enumeration in either direction.
- The nominated documentation URL is the platform's test harness. It contains no cottages-specific content at all, and its embedded payload — which we extracted — is a React module manifest rather than a hidden guide.
- Whether user-intent capture is enabled is unknown. Alpic's platform can inject a parameter asking the model to summarise your underlying request into every tool call. We could not read the real parameter list to check, and cottages.com does not say.
- The MCP App is unaudited. We inspected Anthropic's published screenshots, not the running widget. What its "View on Cottages.com" URL carries — tracking, affiliate or pre-fill parameters — is not knowable from outside, and we did not click it.
- Inventory size is stated inconsistently. Anthropic's listing and the cottages.com homepage both say "over 18,000" cottages, while the same homepage elsewhere claims "Over 22,000 quality assured cottages". Treat any count the agent reports as approximate.
- Prices shown in the widget are marketing as well as data. The listing screenshots pair each total with a struck-through higher figure. Verify the price on the property page before booking.
- UK only. The inventory is cottages.com's UK holiday-rental stock. Sibling Awaze brands such as Hoseasons and Novasol are separate products and are not reachable through this connector.

Can the Cottages.com MCP server actually book a holiday cottage?
No. Anthropic's directory lists two tools and neither creates, holds, modifies or cancels a reservation. Alpic, who built the connector, writes that travellers 'seamlessly transition to booking on cottages.com' — the booking leaves the chat. In Anthropic's own listing screenshots the only button on each property card reads 'View on Cottages.com' and carries an external-link glyph.
Can it contact a cottage owner or submit an enquiry?
No tool in the listing does either. The two names are search-cottages and send_feedback, and send_feedback routes to the hosting platform's operators rather than to any property owner. Cottages.com is a managed agency rather than an owner-messaging marketplace, so there is no enquiry inbox for a tool to write into.
What is the send_feedback tool on the Cottages.com server?
It is not a cottages.com feature. It is injected by @alpic-ai/insights, the analytics package from Alpic, the platform hosting this server. Reading that package at version 1.168.2 shows middleware that appends send_feedback to every tools/list response. It takes content and source, and its own annotations declare readOnlyHint false with destructiveHint false.
Can the model send feedback about me without being asked?
Yes, by design. The injected tool's source parameter is an enum of model and user, and the description tells the model it may call the tool autonomously when it detects a genuine issue. The same description instructs the model to strip personal data first and replace it with placeholders, but that instruction is a prompt, not an enforced filter.
Why does the Cottages.com MCP endpoint return 403 to a direct request?
Because the server restricts callers by IP address. Alpic documents IP whitelisting that admits approved IPs and named MCP clients such as Claude and ChatGPT while every other request receives a 403 Forbidden. Our anonymous handshake got exactly that on 2026-08-24, so the tool detail on this page comes from Anthropic's listing and vendor sources rather than a live tools/list.
Does the connector cost anything to use?
No call in this listing spends money. Searching inventory is free, and the only tool that writes anything writes a feedback string to the hosting platform. Cottages.com takes a 25 pound deposit to reserve a stay, but that is charged on cottages.com during a checkout you complete yourself, never by a tool call.
Does the Cottages.com connector publish its own documentation?
No. The documentation URL in Anthropic's directory points at Alpic's generic MCP Server Playground, a browser test harness whose page title and description never mention cottages, holidays or the UK. That host also serves a blanket Disallow robots.txt and a noindex header, so there is no cottages-specific tool reference to check the listing against.
