Limits

  • The content licence is personal and non-commercial. MT Newswires' Subscriber Terms grant access "solely for your personal, non-commercial use" and bar sharing, copying, redistributing, reselling or disseminating any content without prior written consent. The MCP checkout page serves these same terms inline, minus the free-trial clause. No MCP-specific addendum is published, and a private enterprise agreement — which we have not seen — could modify all of this.
  • No published document addresses AI use of the content. The terms, the MCP page and the privacy policy are all silent on whether retrieved articles may be summarised into a product, retained in an agent's memory, or used to train anything. Silence is not permission, and it is not prohibition either. Ask before building on it.
  • No OAuth scopes exist. On 2026-08-22 both the RFC 9728 protected-resource descriptor and the authorization server metadata omitted scopes_supported. There is no consent-time boundary of any kind — not between reading and writing, and not between one category of news and another.
  • Anthropic's directory carries a wrong endpoint for this connector. Its server_label and Claude API copy string both name vast-mcp.blueskyapi.com/mcp, the viaNexus vAST marketplace server, while remote.url and MT Newswires' documentation name mcp.mtnewswires.com/mcp. At least one third-party aggregator has republished viaNexus' tool list under MT Newswires' name as a result.
  • The two published tool lists disagree in both directions. MT Newswires documents fetch_news, which Anthropic does not list. Anthropic lists onboarding, which MT Newswires does not document anywhere we could find. We can describe neither name's behaviour from a first-party source.
  • We could not read tool schemas or safety annotations. The endpoint returned HTTP 401 to our anonymous handshake, so no parameter detail, no readOnlyHint and no destructiveHint are published here. The read-only classification is ours, from the names and the vendor's one-line descriptions.
  • Paid access only, billed immediately. USD 125 per month for Live Briefs PRO Global Markets through the MCP signup page, which states there is no free trial. MT Newswires' general subscriber terms make all sales final and non-refundable with no prorations.
  • Perplexity adds its own plan gate. MT Newswires states custom and curated MCP connectors in Perplexity are available to Pro, Max and Enterprise subscribers. ChatGPT adds an admin gate: a workspace admin must enable the app before members can use it.
  • No accuracy warranty. MT Newswires' terms state that no representation or warranty of any kind is made regarding the accuracy, completeness, timeliness or reliability of any content, and that content may include errors, omissions or delays. Its terms also state MT Newswires provides no investment, trading, tax, legal or financial advice, and that nothing in the content is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any security.
  • No rate limits are published. We found no documented request ceiling, quota or 429 behaviour on any MT Newswires page. Treat that as undocumented rather than as unlimited.
  • No public source or package. The server is closed and hosted; we found no npm package, no PyPI package and no public repository implementing it, so no source-read corroboration of the tool surface is possible.

MT Newswires sells MCP access through a dedicated signup page at 125 US dollars a month for Live Briefs PRO Global Markets, and that page states there is no free trial period and your card is billed on submission. The connector authenticates with your MT Newswires credentials, so there is no anonymous or free tier.

Those terms grant a limited right to access content solely for personal, non-commercial use, and bar sharing, copying, redistributing, reselling or otherwise disseminating any content in whole or in part without prior written consent. MT Newswires publishes no MCP-specific licence amending this.

Seven, on both counts, but the two lists differ by one name each. MT Newswires documents search_news, search_news_by_metacode, list_metacodes, fetch_news, fetch_news_batch, fetch_news_by_security and format_news. Anthropic's directory lists the same set except it drops fetch_news and adds onboarding. Neither party publishes the other's name.

No. Every tool on both the vendor's list and Anthropic's is a read, a category lookup or a formatting step. No name on either list carries a create, update, delete, order or alert verb, and MT Newswires is a news publisher rather than a broker. The server holds no writable user state we could find.

None that narrow anything. On 2026-08-22 the server's own RFC 9728 descriptor and its authorization server metadata both omitted scopes_supported entirely, so no scope exists to grant or withhold. Anthropic's directory nonetheless labels the connector Read and write, which no tool on either published list supports.

Anthropic's directory entry carries a second, conflicting address on vast-mcp.blueskyapi.com, which is the viaNexus vAST marketplace server rather than MT Newswires' own. The two are separate deployments on separate clouds with separate authorization servers, and only the first matches the vendor's documentation.
