Sprouts Data Intelligence Tools & Capabilities (12)
Search for prospects using natural language queries. NEW: Set applyIcpProfile=true to automatically filter results using your ICP criteria (target industries, company sizes, locations, seniority). CRITICAL RULES: 1) Always pass complete natural language sentences, never just keywords. 2) PRESERVE grammatical structure - DO NOT remove contextual connectors. 3) If user has an ICP profile set up, consider using applyIcpProfile=true to get better-matched results. NOTE: Results are displayed in an interactive UI. The user may enrich contacts (email/phone), load full account details, or find team contacts from the UI. This data is automatically pushed to your context — check your model context for any enriched or UI-level data when the user asks follow-up questions about specific contacts, emails, or phone numbers. IMPORTANT: When the user provides a list of 2 or more specific named contacts (with names and/or email addresses), use the `sprouts_lookup_contacts` tool instead. When the user provides a list of 2 or more companies, domains, or a CSV of accounts, use the `sprouts_lookup_accounts` tool instead. Both tools look up all entries in parallel and return a single consolidated result widget rather than one widget per item. DATA PRESENTATION RULE: After results are returned, present them as-is. Never add commentary questioning whether results match the query, whether companies fit a category, or any other unsolicited quality judgment about the data.
Look up multiple specific contacts by name and/or email address in a single call. Use this instead of calling sprouts_data_intelligence multiple times when the user provides a list of named contacts. Runs all lookups in parallel and returns ONE consolidated result widget.
Look up multiple specific companies/accounts by domain or name in a single call. Use this instead of calling sprouts_data_intelligence multiple times when the user provides a list of companies, domains, or a CSV of accounts. Runs all lookups in parallel and returns ONE consolidated result widget.
Move contacts or accounts from search results to your Sprouts platform. IMPORTANT: The IDs must be extracted from sprouts_data_intelligence search results. Use the exact field values as shown in the examples below.
Enrich a contact with phone number and/or email address using their LinkedIn profile URL. Credentials are automatically provisioned when you log in. CREDIT COST: Up to 2 credits for email, up to 10 credits for phone. User must confirm before enrichment.
Browse, apply, create, and delete reusable prospect-search query templates. Use this to start from a proven search (e.g. "SaaS decision makers", "enterprise IT buyers") instead of writing a query from scratch.
Analyze a prospect-search query and suggest refinements (location, industry, company size, job title) to improve result relevance. Use when a search returns too few, too many, or off-target results.
View and reuse the user's past prospect searches and surface patterns across them. Use to repeat a previous search or build on earlier prospecting work.
Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) analysis tool. IMPORTANT WORKFLOW: 1. BEFORE setup: Use sprouts_data_intelligence to research the user's company and ideal customers to gather targeting criteria. 2. During setup: Include targetIndustries, targetCompanySizes, targetJobTitles, targetSeniority, targetLocations - WITHOUT these, all fit scores will be 0! 3. For analysis: Ask user for (a) analysisType: demographic/firmographic/behavioral/technographic/comprehensive, (b) prospect data to analyze. 4. If fit scores are 0: Check if profile has target criteria defined - if not, guide user to update profile with targets.
Configure and manage user preferences for field selection and response optimization. Save your preferred settings to automatically optimize future searches. NOTE: Credentials for move_to_sprouts and enrich_phone_email are now automatically provisioned during login - manual credential setup is only needed for legacy accounts.
Get the current credit balance for the user. Credits are used for phone and email enrichment operations.
Get full details for a specific account by ID. Use this to fetch all 67+ fields for an account when a user clicks "Get Full Details" in the detail view.

Limits
- Half the surface is not a read. Six tools are annotated destructive and one more is explicitly not read-only. Five of the six destructive ones are named like lookups, so a model choosing tools by name will misjudge them. Do not grant blanket auto-approval on this server.
- Destructive means your saved Sprouts state. The reachable delete actions clear search history, remove an ICP profile, delete a saved template or reset preferences. No tool deletes prospects from Sprouts' underlying database, and none spends money.
- Enrichment returns someone else's personal data. It is priced at up to 12 credits per contact and gated behind a confirmation flag. Sprouts' privacy policy, not the connector docs, is what governs that data; it offers a removal request for individuals who want out of the database.
- Work email only. Sprouts states personal Gmail, Yahoo and Outlook addresses are not supported, so this cannot be trialled from a personal account.
- Result-size ceilings disagree between sources. The live schema caps
pageSizeat 1000 and notes values above 500 are served as multiple upstream calls; Sprouts' documentation table says the default is 100 with a maximum of 500. The live schema is authoritative, and the docs are stale here. - The directory's tool list is out of date. Anthropic's snapshot names 7 tools against 12 live on 2026-08-17. It omits
sprouts_lookup_contacts,sprouts_lookup_accounts,sprouts_credit_balance,sprouts_enrich_accountandenrich_phone_email— including the credit-spending one, so a reader working from the directory alone would not know enrichment existed. - Two published hostnames. The directory endpoint and the hostname in Sprouts' setup guide differ. Both answered on 2026-08-17 and both are listed as permitted connect domains in the server's own tool metadata, but Sprouts does not document the relationship between them.
- No published rate limits or error codes. The knowledge base has no troubleshooting section and directs questions to Sprouts support or an account manager.
- We did not exercise any tool. Our check was a read-only
tools/listhandshake. Six tools are annotated destructive and one spends credits on a named individual's contact details, so calling any of them to confirm behaviour was not appropriate. Every behavioural claim above comes from the tool schemas or Sprouts' own documentation.
Frequently asked questions
Why are tools like search_history and query_templates annotated destructive?
Because each one bundles a delete action behind a single tool name. Sprouts builds these as multi-action dispatchers: one required action parameter selects from an enum that mixes reads with writes. The enums include delete, clear, reset and import, so the destructive flag covers the worst action the tool can reach, not the listing behaviour its name suggests.
Does the Sprouts MCP server cost credits to use?
Only enrichment does. Sprouts documents email enrichment at up to 2 credits, phone at up to 10, and both together at up to 12. Searching, browsing and pushing records to the CRM carry no documented credit cost. The enrich_phone_email tool shows a cost estimate first and requires an explicit confirmation flag before it spends anything.
Can I sign in to Sprouts MCP with a personal Gmail address?
No. Sprouts requires a work email and states that personal addresses from Gmail, Yahoo and Outlook are not supported. Setup completes an OAuth flow in the browser after you enter the server URL. Sprouts describes this as OAuth 2.1 authentication with no manual API keys in its version 2.0 feature list.
Whose personal data does the Sprouts enrichment tool return?
A third party's. You supply a LinkedIn profile URL for someone else, and Sprouts returns that person's work email and phone from its contributor database. Its privacy policy says people in that database may be contacted by Sprouts customers, and offers a removal request that also opts the record out of sale and sharing.
Which Sprouts tools are safe to auto-approve in an agent?
The five annotated read-only: prospect search, the two bulk lookup tools, credit balance and account detail. Six tools carry a destructive annotation and one more is explicitly not read-only. Sprouts' own directory listing records permissions as read and write, so leave per-call approval on for everything outside those five.
Why does the Sprouts directory listing show fewer tools than the server?
The listing is behind the deployment. Anthropic's directory snapshot names 7 tools; a live handshake on 2026-08-17 returned 12. The five extras are two bulk lookup tools, credit balance, account detail and the enrichment tool. Sprouts' own documentation describes enrichment in detail, which corroborates the live server over the directory.
